A VOGUE EDITOR has incurred the wrath of the internet after posting a ‘tasteless’ photo of a homeless person reading the magazine.
Vogue style editor-at-large Elisabeth von Thurn und Taxis, who is currently living it up at Paris Fashion Week, posted this picture on Instagram last Saturday:
Paris is full of surprises… and @voguemagazine readers, even in unexpected corners!
Von Thurn und Taxis – a German princess with the nickname ‘TNT’ – immediately came under fire for the photo, with some commenters asking if she had given the homeless person any food.
Style blog Fashionista was particularly damning of TNT:
The things she writes, both in Vogue and on social media, often straddle the line between entertaining/aspirational and disturbingly out of touch. On Saturday she crossed that line.
Von Thurn und Taxis responded to the complaints by writing, “Why cruel? The person to me is as dignified as anyone else” – but later deleted the picture.
Last night, she posted a picture of some nice Paris scenery, along with an apology:
I wanted to extend my sincerest apologies for the offence my post has caused. Yours truly, Elisabeth.
